Blast from the Past: Repainting the Khador Starter Kit

We all started somewhere.  My first Warmachine miniatures were from the Khador side of the 2 player starter kit, and they've seen plenty of action.  Over the past 5 years, I've jumped between factions and set them aside.  With MK III arriving, I decided to go back to my roots and take a fresh look at my old Khador army.

The changes to Man-O-War units were the final push to starting up this project, since I've always found the idea of steam-powered armor appealing.  Rather than buy all new models, I stripped them down and repainted them to my current standard.  More details and pictures after the jump!

The Khador Extremoth

The Behemoth.  An essential warjack for any serious Khador player, and one that outperforms most colossals in the battlefield.  PP produces a slightly anorexic, gangly version, so many hobbyists have turned to building their own from the chassis of an Extreme Juggernaut and parts from the original.  I innovated very little here, but the results are exactly what I was aiming for.

Beast 09 extra pictures

This post is simply for a pair of pictures that were requested.  The close-ups show different angles on the chest/waist connection for clarity.  Not the best pictures, but they show what was needed.

Building a Better Beast 09

Did you build Beast 09 to run with your Khador army?  Do you find it to be significantly shorter than the rest of your 'jacks?  Does it look like it's holding that axe in an unnaturally awkward swing?  In here I show you my simple conversion to build a better Beast!

Doomreavers

The Butcher's personal warjack, Ruin, is due out soon, and I've always had an interest in Orgoth artifacts and Khador's reckless use of them.  I wanted to match the green/blue glow of Ruin's Orgoth trinkets on some Doomreavers that I've left unpainted for a long time.

The Process of Painting Imperatus

Retribution has a "game-changing" warjack!  I finished him back in July, and have been enjoying the carnage that he brings to the table ever since.
