SKRONS.

I talked my brother into starting up an army, and he picked Skorne.  The stipulation was that I had to do all the painting for him.  So far he's just got the battlebox, but it did teach me the joys of painting titans!  Could there be a better subject for drybrushing!?  He wanted a black armored force, and I used a deep red as an accent color.  This scheme makes for a much darker army, and was interesting to figure out.

Then and Now

Reddit had the fun topic of posting your first miniature and your most recently completed.  It's crazy to see how far we come with some practice.

My very first entry into wargaming and miniature painting was a 40k Tyranid Broodlord, back in 2006. These are the only two pictures I've got of him, and the lack of detail isn't just from the camera flash.

Convergence of Cyriss Tower of Power!

Or power node if you want to be boring...
This was a fun project, simply because it was a chance to go to the hardware store and cobble together the cheapest, most "impressive" looking parts I could find.  It does it's job of taking up 120mm on the table, and makes for a nice centerpiece, especially when surrounded by other Convergence themed terrain.

More Convergence Terrain (Pond and Forest)

The Convergence release event is right around the corner, and the past league revolved around them.  This gave me an opportunity to put my 40k design aesthetics to work, as an army of robots is a good excuse for some semi-futuristic elements.  I like my terrain to tell a story, and these pieces reflect a region controlled by the Convergence of Cyriss.  The lightning was a fun exercise in dynamic elements in a static terrain piece, and serves to tie them all together.

Space Tick!

It's been a busy month of painting, and I slacked on getting pictures up.  To make up for it, here's a short WIP of a Retribution Arcantrik Force Generator...the Space Tick...the Angry Cricket.  Whatever else you want to call it.

Convergence of Cyriss Terrain (Hill)

I finally tackled my first real terrain project, using techniques from 3T Studios.  I strongly recommend you swing by their site if you're even remotely interested in making wargaming terrain.  It's easy, fun, and looks great!  For the hill here, the goal was to have a partially obscured Convergence facility.  Due to a mistake in material selection, it now appears to have erupted out of the hillside!  Sometimes accidents give us the best ideas.  This is the first in a short series of themed pieces for the current Machinations league.

House Shyeel Magistra Conversion

I can't take full credit for the idea, as I snagged it from the official forums.  My interpretation is slightly different.  Here's a brief WIP to completed album.  Big thanks to Privateer Press, who provided me with the extra body and the card for the conversion.  This was a fun project, now I've just got to find out if she's any good on the table.

Warmachine Machinations: Entropy (Mutation Schematic)

Take one Soulless Escort and add lots of blight, and you get something like this.  I painted this mini for the Mutation schematic of the current Machinations season.  Turned out a bit more purple than I planned, and those rivets on his armored skirt are huge, but I'm happy with it.  I've been dying to paint this guy up, and with the league finally underway, I could begin work.  More pics, including WIP after the jump.
